Books on Fantasy and Science Fiction

I was fond of science fiction books since my childhood days. I could still recall that when I was eight years old, I joined a science fiction book club. I read many science fiction classics but I could still remember the stories of books, "The Time Machine" and "Journey to the Center of the Earth". I loved a bit more modern classics than the books stated above like space opera, such as Robert A. Heinlein's "Citizen of the Galaxy" and, Orson Scott Card's "Ender's Game". I was a fan of these books those days.

I liked the epic scope in these science fiction books. I can remember I also loved to read books on a type of science fiction that attempts to look into the future of society known as speculative fiction but the space opera always remained my best.

I just couldn't get enough of books on galaxies fighting for supremacy, fantastic alien races, strange distortions in time and space, prophecy, honor and love. All these books kept my interest in reading my favorite science fiction books for years.

The best way to start if you are new to science fiction books is through old collections. There is no genre of fiction that is a collection of short storie like science fiction books. Many books with names like "year's best" and "science fiction" are released in various combinations. The best way to select the best book is to read or take a glance of books quickly. By reading a part of the story you can easily determine whether it is your type of science fiction book or not.

Although fantasy and science fiction are different but you might consider picking up some fantasy books along with science fiction books but if science fiction appeals to you, then the fantasy would also appeal you. There is not much difference between fantasy and science fiction books as science fiction books focus on technology and aliens whereas fantasy books focus on magic and sorcery. That is both the concepts are imaginary to some extent!
